The Ciberimaginario Research Group at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), in collaboration with the URJC Chair of Energy Transition and the URJC Chair of Circular Economy, is organising the XR Workshop: Communicating the Energy Transition through Virtual Worlds, to be held on 30 June and 1 July 2026 at the Aranjuez Campus, as part of the XXVII edition of the URJC Summer Courses.
This 15-hour intensive workshop is framed within the European project UPRAISE – Virtual Worlds Innovation Masters: Shaping Future Digital Skills Europe (Digital Europe Programme, GA 101225920), whose mission is to train professionals in advanced digital skills for virtual worlds. The course is directly linked to the project’s «Education & Creativity» vertical and contributes to its dissemination indicators (WP9/WP10).
Over two days, undergraduate and postgraduate students from both communication and technical backgrounds will work in interdisciplinary teams to create WebXR experiences that communicate key aspects of the energy transition. Using the FrameVR platform, participants will design immersive narratives, integrate data visualisations and publish their virtual spaces.
The programme includes an inaugural panel with the participation of the Chair of Energy Transition and the Chair of Circular Economy, a keynote on immersive communication by César Urbina (Innovation Director at Iralta Films, UPRAISE project partner), and hands-on sessions on narrative design and production in FrameVR. Final presentations will be evaluated by Emili Blanque, President of InmersivaXR.
